Why Did I Join?

In our Peak newsletter Cyril said it took him six years to get me to join. So what's made the change? Well, partly Cyril's persistence, he can be like a terrier with a bone. But that's not all. I am not a "clubby" person. I hate "pony treking (riding in convoy). Large groups of motorcyclists travelling together are perceived in the same way as wagon trains of caravans by other road users. I prefer to ride on my own or with one other - I am not a loner - I enjoy the privilege and the pleasures of riding a bike. Its the nearest I will get to being a pilot. |

Motorcyclists are good company - they understand fellowship. Those of us brought up on the "classics" often needed that fellowship to get us going. When I met with the lads and lasses of FCM Peak they epitomised all that fellowship. I get a kick out of riding all types of bike from a 50cc Derby Senda through classic Nortons to modern day rocket ships. FCM members turn up on Trailies, ex WD BSA M20's, BMW's, Honda's - you name it, someone will bring one. Everyone is interested in what everyone else rides. A sense of humour helps with some comments but all are intended in jest. People are the most important and that is the key. That's what finally got me to join.
