Welcome to The Fellowship of Christian Motorcyclists

Fellowship Officers Profiles

Don't let our appearances put you off joining!

Chairman

(Stephen "SuperTed" Thomson)

I joined FCM in 1989 shortly after becoming a Christian.  I have been a biker for rather longer - I got my first bike, a Honda C90, in March 1975 and my brother has always said I had as many miles on my jacket as my tyres!

Having learnt how not to fall off I now ride a BMW R1150 GS, my 4th BMW and 12th bike in 32 years of continuous riding.  I don't like being called a "born again biker" because I've never stopped.

I am known as "SuperTed", a nickname I picked up several years ago by being a fan of a kids cartoon  (sad isn't it) about a flying Teddy Bear and have several stickers on the GS and the name and logo emblazoned across my jacket.

Quite soon after joining FCM I was inveigled into being the Essex Region's 1st Secretary, a post I held for 4 years from 1990 to 94.  I was Trans:mission Editor for 7 years, 92 - 99 and was Publicity Officer for 5 years,99-04.  After a year off (for good behaviour?) I was elected National Chairman at the AGM in 2005 and again in 2007.  Some of us seem to have "Committee member" in our genes.

National Secretary

(Nicky Partridge)

I have been the regional secretary for the Wessex region, and have been for 6 years or so. I have been a member of the FCM since 1996, shortly after passing my test, and it was only the fellowship of the group that kept me interested after my first chilly winter on a bike!  I even married a fellow FCM member in February 1999.

My first bike was a Honda 200 Benley, which died an untimely death when the bike shop it was in burned down. Bike no. 2 was a Honda CB400F, which now belongs to a member of Chiltern's region. Bike no. 3 was a Honda VFR400(NC21) and I now own a Honda VFR400(NC30). By this you can infer that a) I am short and b) only Honda make decent bikes low enough.

Treasurer

(Patrick Laycock)

I'm a mature biker with 3 children.  Have been riding since I was 17. I was editor of the FCM magazine, Trans:mission from 2002 - 2007, attempting to draw together the strands of our various ramblings and generally knock into a coherent enough shape to call a magazine.

I currently ride a Honda ST1300.

Membership Secretary

(Richard "Perce" Pirson)

       .

Hi I’m Ric Pirson more commonly known as Perce, a nickname I gained in the Cubs. The youngest of 6 boys I grew up in Teddington, Middlesex. Married with three children, our son Joe is in his twenties and lives in Scotland with his partner and our very precious Granddaughter. We moved with our teenage girls to Evesham in the summer of 2004.

Motorcycling is in the blood, with a father, grandfather, uncles and 4 of the brothers having been motorcyclists I just followed in the family footsteps. My first bike was a 50cc Puch Maxi moped at 16 followed a year later by a CZ175. Today it’s a Hinckley built Triumph Bonneville, making up for the one I couldn’t afford at 18! Keen on long distance touring I’ve got Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, France, Germany, Austria and Home all under the belt with plans for Ireland. A graduate of the RAC/ACU motorcycle rider training scheme in October 1974, I still wear the badge on my jacket today.

I was slower off the mark as far as my Christian walk goes. That had to wait until I was 21 before I realized, with the help of the girl who’s now my wife, that all they kept trying to tell me at Scout’s for years about JESUS was true.

Editor of Trans:mission

(Damian Harty)

Publisher and Publicity officer

(Tim Rice)

I have been riding bikes for the past 30 years (when money has allowed) starting out on a NSU Quickly moped and now currently riding a Triumph Trident 900.  I am married with two children, both currently studying at university, my son in Wales and my daughter in Norfolk.  She and I have recently completed a Police Bikesafe course together before she took her own bike to universiity.

Somehow I find the time to actually get out and ride my bike and the BSA Bantam will finally get put back together!

 Webmaster

(Cyril Unsworth)

I am a mature biker with three mature children and eight grandchildren.  First licenced to drive a motorcycle in 1954,  I have ridden most things from 25cc (yes 25cc) to 1200cc.

Riding a Suzuki GSX 600F earned me the name of "Flying Squirrel" but in 2008 you will find me riding a more sedate BMW R65, but I am still planning trips to Ireland and Orkney.
